KAOLE RUINS:

The Kaole ruins consist of early buildings, mosques and tombs. Traditions claim that some of the tombs especially the pillared ones, are the graves of the local rulers who were known as Diwanis.

There are traditions that claim the diwanis were the descendants of the Sheikh Ali Muhamad al-Hatim al-Barawi. That was the well-known Sheikh along the coast of Bagamoyo.
